Melissa Nixon, Lorenzo Manzano and David Hofland, CMP Fellows from CSU Northridge, work at three middle schools during the week with their master teachers. During the weekend, they teach instrumental music classes at Quincy Jones ES to over one hundred beginning band students.

This opportunity allows them to develop their teaching skills by working with elementary students on two specific instruments, while providing music instruction to students who would not typically receive music lessons.

The combination of working with middle and elementary school students has expanded their skill to connect and educate students at various ages and abilities, while providing access to music education for many students.
