How We Work
CMP directly funds initiatives that integrate music into the core curriculum of public schools.
CMP creates innovative programs to achieve measurable results.
In partnership with the California State University system, CMP is funding an innovative service credit program at San Jose State University for college students majoring in music, thereby encouraging talented university students to establish music teaching careers. Over time the program will be replicated throughout Cal State campuses and their communities.
- CMP makes $1,000 grants directly to teachers who will use funds to bring music learning back into the classroom. The CMP "Teachers-for-Music" program is a joint venture with the California Arts Council who will use their existing infrastructure to screen and award these grants to deserving schools and their kids.
CMP uses a private-public funding model that is creating solutions. Start-up funds were provided by the California Arts Council. The second round of funding came from the CMP board of directors. Continued funding support is now being generated from businesses, foundations and generous individuals.
